Recently, we identified a new mammalian species representing a new genus belonging to the family Adapisoriculidae from the early Eocene of India (in Kapur et al., 2017). However, following an email from Gilles Escarguel, we became aware that the genus name Indolestes (in Kapur et al., 2017) is preoccupied by a damselfly (Phylum Arthropoda: Class Insecta: Order Odonata: Family Lestidae) within the Kingdom Animalia (Fraser, 1922 and Selys Longchamps de., 1862), and also that the Linnean name of the new species should have been suffixed differently, as it was established in honor of an eminent personality. To resolve this, we propose a new name for the fossil mammal introduced in Kapur et al. (2017) in accordance with articles 30, 31, 52, 53, 56 and 60 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (1999):

Genus Bharatlestes nom. nov. (= Indolestes Kapur et al., 2017)

Etymology: The genus name is the combination of Bharat, India; and lestes, a common suffix used for insectivorous mammals.

Species Bharatlestes kalami (= Indolestes kalamensis (Kapur et al., 2017) comb. nov.

Etymology:The species is named in honor of late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, former Indian President for his iconic contributions as an inspirational role model in science and technology in India.
